Congratulations on your engagement! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness.
Engagement, it’s a wonderful time to figure out and scout who your potential wedding photographer will be. An engagement photoshoot is a great way to experiment with different styles of photography and choose an esthetic you want to achieve to tell your unique love story. Let’s work together to see if you want to choose me to photograph your wedding!

Does the perfect Location exist?
It’s a big world out there. Have you decided where you want to be photographed for your engagement shoot? Do you prefer the outdoors, capturing the essence of the season? Is there a landmark or spot that is near and dear to your heart? If you prefer the privacy of a studio space where you may feel more comfortable taking intimate photographs, we can make that happen. If you don’t have any particular location on mind, I can definitely give my top picks.

When can we be photographed?
Depending on the aesthetic you are going for, we can pick the time of day to suit your vision. If you like the look of sunrise, mid-day or sunset, we can make it happen. I use the sun, clouds, shade and artificial lighting to replicate the look you wish to achieve. Whether you like the moody look, or a fun vibrant look, I will work with you to make it happen! Come rain or shine, your photos will outshine what you have envisioned!

How about the Poses?
Whether you already know what poses you like or you need a little guidance with posing, I will work with you and your partner to produce beautiful photographs to showcase your love for each other. If you are inspired by photos you have seen on Pinterest or on your social media, that you want to recreate, I will take inspiration from that and add my special touch to make your photos feel unique.

Will our emotions look disingenuous?
You are worried that you may not feel comfortable and the photographs will come across as staged or inauthentic. I, as a photographer connect with you and make you feel at ease. The moments I capture are real. Your interactions with your significant other are not staged. I capture the natural cadence of how you interact with your partner and your moments to look natural. Your expressions in the photographs, just like your love for each other, will be genuine and special.

What should we wear?
That depends on the look you are trying to achieve: easy-going comfort, elegance and style or timeless classics. Your clothes can be used as a form of expression of your personality and your fashion style. I highly encourage coordinating outfits with your partner. You don’t have to be matchy-matchy, but complimentary colours in your outfits definitely help! Let’s steer away from heavily visible logos or crazy mismatched patterns. We want the attention to be on YOU. Feel free to wear layers, bring a change of clothes and shoes!

What about make-up and hairstyle?
If you are working with a hairstylist and makeup artist for your wedding day, your engagement photoshoot is a great time to try out the look you are trying to achieve. I would encourage getting a hairdo or haircut and proper grooming of facial hair and nails for the photoshoot. Ladies, I know you want to show off your ring, you may want to get your nails done, or simply shine with your clean nails.

What should you bring on the day of the photoshoot?
As much as I encourage traveling light, you may want to have a big bag where you can carry your change of clothes, an additional layer or two, and shoes. You may want to bring some accessories and jewellery, to enhance your look. I discourage big and bright props like balloons and signs that can be cumbersome to carry and also take the focus away from you. If you have “Thank You” or “Save The Date” signs, we will photograph with them and then tuck them away in your bag.

How to prepare for the day of the photoshoot?
Plan your day ahead of time and arrive at the designated location a little early. Walk around and have a feel for the place. I don’t want you and your partner to feel rushed in any way. You want to feel relaxed and not let the nerves get to you. If you feel that some music might help, let’s put it on our phones and have a listen. Again, remember the day is about you and your partner, and your love for each other, and that is what we want to capture in the photographs.
Now let’s commemorate your love with beautiful pictures to showcase your special love story.
